till i lose my sense of gravity

hi!

here's another one of my africa looks, named after an absolutely awesome song by one of my favourite artists/musicians

i adore patti smith's music, her style and her amazing lyrics and poems. she's such a beautiful woman and a great rolemodel!
let alone her autobiography just kids which i have read 4 times and will never get tired of!

when i found this shirt in h&m i was happy and kinda annoyed at the same time. it think it's really cool but i've told you about my attitude towards h&m band shirts before.. soon half of your school will be wearing them without even knowing/listening to the band. but still i thought if ANYONE at my school should be wearing this it's me, haha. i have two other patti smith shirts (both bought at her show in berlin in 2010) and i hate admitting it but i think i like the h&m one the best!

amerigo / happy fourth of july

hi hello and happy fourth of july guys!

no I'm not american, haha. but I thought since I love america and haven't worn these clothes for ages I'd create a 4th-of-july-look.

the title (amerigo) is a song on patti smith's amazing new album banga, I can't find a video of it on youtube, probably because german youtube sucks. whatever, it's a cool song and I thought it fitted.

the shirt is from a gift shop in washington d.c., I love it although the neckline and sleeves are sooo not flattering. maybe I'll crop it or something. what do you think?

this post is kind of weird and incoherent, sorry. hope you like the look anyway! and if you do don't forget to HYPE! :)

TOP 10 BOOK LIST

well, I called this blog coffee, BOOKS and poetry, so I'm going to write a little bit about my favourite books now. It's a damn hard decision and I might be of a different opinion tomorrow, but today and at this moment I'd say my top 10 books are

1. JUST KIDS - PATTI SMITH
2. A LONG WAY DOWN - NICK HORNBY
3. THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY - OSCAR WILDE
4. ON THE ROAD - JACK KEROUAC
5. CARRIE - STEPHEN KING
6. PEACE - ALEXA HENNIG VON LANGE
7. FAST GENIAL - BENEDICT WELLS
8. THE DOWNTOWN DIARIES (FORCED ENTRIES) - JIM CARROLL
9. ONE DAY - DAVID NICHOLLS
10. TWILIGHT - STEPHENIE MEYER

...not necessarily in that order, but I think this is it. I'd recommend all of them to everybody who... just to everybody actually. They're awesome, really.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I first read JUST KIDS in 2010 and I've read it like three or four times since then. I just love it, it's such a beautiful story and really makes me feel like I was born in the wrong time. even though it's basically a biography it's kind of like a novel, maybe even the most beautiful love story I've ever read.
(it's about patti smith and her boyfriend and later friend robert mapplethorpe, by the way, it's mainly set in new york city in the 60s/70s for those who don't know)
I can only recommend this book to everybody who is SLIGHTLY interested in either patti smith, robert mapplethorpe, new york in the 60s/70s, the art scene around andy warhol or anything like that...

from just kids (patti smith)

A LONG WAY DOWN is awesome book too. I love nick hornby in general, all of his books, but I guess this is my favourite. The story (5 people are planning on killing themselves on nye and then accidently meet because they all wanted to jump of the same roof, so they decide to not kill themselves and instead just live a little longer and see what happens) is amazing I think. I also love nick hornby's style of writing and the characters in the story. if you like nick hornby, you'll probably like david nicholls too. of course you don't have to like nick hornby for liking david nicholls, I've recommended ONE DAY to several people and they all loved it. no matter if boy or girl and which age, everybody loved it, and I think that speaks for itself.

THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY is a beautiful story with a great moral (although I'm not sure whether to believe in morals or not, most of the time people notice they're true and realize their mistakes but don't change anything anyway...). still. this is a beautiful story with a moral. read it.

I already told you that I love jack kerouac. ON THE ROAD is probably my favourite among his books, it's a difficult decision though. I just love the way kerouac describes the places he travels and the things he sees. he writes about a different america, an america that I don't think really exists anymore, so the book - just like JUST KIDS - makes me feel like I was born in the wrong time.

CARRIE is my favourite by stephen king, and I have read A LOT of stephen king books! he's an awesome author, this is an awesome book. this post is getting too long so I won't write that much about every single book...

PEACE and FAST GENIAL are german books and I don't think there are english translations, but I really do recommend them to everybody who speaks german!

THE DOWNTOWN DIARIES (FORCES ENTRIES), just like jim carrolls first diary 'the basketball diaries' (you should see the film with leonardo dicaprio, it's epic!) is an awesome book, which is also set in new york city in the 60s/70s.

yeah, I know, most of you will think I'm so stupid for liking TWILIGHT. but I do. I'd even say I love it. I first read it when I was in canada in 2008 and from then on loved everything to do with vampires and washington state. I'm not that vampire-crazy anymore but I still love washington state - especially seattle. I've even been to forks and la push. when the movie came out I was kind of dissapointed but I think that's just the way it is if you read a book that you really love and then watch the movie. it's not too bad though, and robert pattinson's hot. just saying.

okay that was a daaaamn long post. sorry about that. but I hope the book titles in caps helped a little, so you can only read about the books that interest you. like I said, I love all of them and would recommend them all (otherwise I wouldn't mention them here)!

so long!
